First-in-Series Sale!

Readers:

For a limited time from today, August 13 to the end of day on Sunday, August 19, I am having a sale on the Kindle versions of the first books of both of my series. The Resistance (The New World Book 1) and Fire (The Six Elements Book 1) will be just $0.99 in both the U.S. and the U.K. for this time. This is as cheap as my books ever get, so be sure to pick them up now if you’re interested and haven’t yet gotten a copy.

Fire KindleFire (The Six Elements Book 1)

The Six Elements is a 6-book epic/military fantasy series about one powerful mage’s quest of revenge and rise to political power by waging the War of Necromancers. Book 1 is her humble origin story.

Kai Sera is the greatest asset of war that exists. In a world where most mages only have the ability to wield one element, she wields them all: fire, earth, water, air, life, and death. Though she is raised as royalty by an adoptive father at the prestigious Seran University of Magic, he refuses to put her skills to use in his army, so Kai breaks free of her bonds to go on a quest of adventure and self discovery.

One simple quest will turn into a life-changing phenomenon for Kai and her companions. Beliefs are challenged. Old secrets are unearthed. Legal lines are crossed. Loyalties are divided. The seeds of rebellion are planted. When it comes time for Kai to face the truth, a legend will be born.

The Resistance (The New World Book 1)1resistancekindlecover

The New World is a completed 5-book gritty futuristic dystopian thriller series about assassins completing political espionage missions to sabotage and eventually rebel against a corrupt and unrecognizable American government. Prepare for blood and heartache; I like my dystopian dark and depressing!

Melanie Adams has a normal life like any other citizen of the New World. When a loved one is executed after being deemed a domestic terrorist for accidentally muttering a banned word, however, she finds she is not alone in believing it is the government that is to blame. She is soon contacted by Axel Chambers, a member of a resistance group who tells her things used to be different, and people used to be free.

Melanie finds she is living in what used to be the United States of America. After learning more of the country’s past, she decides to join the fight to regain the freedoms and rights citizens once had. Axel trains her to be stealthy and to kill as an assassin, and the two become fast friends and partners, working together to gather artifacts from the country’s history that could help them in the fight.

The government will not make the fight easy. Intrusive technology is rampant in the New World, and the government does not like its citizens to have knowledge or allies. To make matters worse, Melanie and Axel are soon contacted by a government official who is looking to hire the duo to anonymously put a stop to the government’s latest project: controlling the human mind.

Thank you so much if you decide to try one of these books out! Don’t forget to sign up for my mailing list if you’d like guaranteed reminders of book releases (since Amazon’s author pages don’t often work).

Stay tuned for updates on extra book/lore content and progress on Death (The Six Elements Book 6). It’s been a hell of a lot of work, but I nearly have two completed series under my belt. I am thankful for your support; without it, I wouldn’t be able to do this for a living. I’d write no matter what, but it’s only because of the interest my stories have generated that I continue to send these books into the masses. 😉

Life (TSE Book 5) Excerpt Released, New World Series Sale!

Readers:

It’s about time for an update, don’t you think? First of all, the first book of the complete New World series is on sale for a limited time. If you’re feeling in the mood to read a dystopian thriller about people rebelling against the corrupt government of a futuristic America, The Resistance is where to start. It’s $0.99 until Friday, May 25. Like the Six Elements series, the New World gets pretty brutal and gory, and I weave tragedy into every book. Where the Six Elements focuses on mage warfare, the New World is all about techno-savvy assassins (dual daggers, crossbows, and guns are the weapons of choice!). Like I said, the New World is a complete series, so if you like it, there’s no waiting to finish it.

Now, onto the Six Elements series. I’ve had family issues and the resulting stress pulling me away from writing over the past weeks, but there has been a recent development that has allowed me to get back to it, at least temporarily. I have written 26,000 words (about 100 pages) over the past two days, which actually makes me question my sanity. Whenever I’m kept from writing, it seems I just go crazy until I can get it done. I have worried before that perhaps I get too into these books; I’m so obsessed with “living” in them that I find I’m disappointed by the real world and its limitations.

With that said, Life (TSE Book 5) is going to be lengthy. It’s almost as long as Water (Book 3, 591 pages) now, and I still have three major battles to get through. I am making significant progress and loving every minute of it. My favorite things to write are banter/arguments and gory battle scenes, and boy is there a lot of both in Life!

I am working 12+ hours a day to bring you this next book, so I appreciate your patience as it all comes together. I update this blog about twice a month if you’d like to follow it via the links to the left, or you can sign up to my newsletter to get an email with the pre-order date and cover reveal when it’s time. At some point, I’ll release an excerpt of Life as well, but it’s hard to decide which section of it to use without giving out spoilers! (Update: just kidding! I edited some spoilers out of a scene to use it as Life‘s excerpt. You can either sync your Kindle for updates or check it out on the Book Excerpts page!)

For now, I have to go back to writing. It’s a scene involving explosions and flying body parts, which is always fun to write on an empty stomach. Oh, who am I kidding? That’s fun to write at any time of the day. 😉

Final Update for Air (TSE Book 4), Upcoming New World Sale

Readers:

Don’t worry, I see how many hits this website has gotten recently with you all checking to see if Air (The Six Elements Book 4) is coming out soon. Wouldn’t you know it? I just finished it today. 🙂

My next blog post will be both a release date and cover reveal. You can get an immediate update when it happens by subscribing to my release mailing list here. The book is going into the editing process tonight and should be ready for sale within a few weeks. It’s even longer than Water at 200,000 words. Yes, that means I’ve written 200K words in less than two months. That is insane.

Thank you all once again for your reviews and support. I have seen a couple of readers submit reviews for Fire and Water lately (but Earth is still looking so lonely, ha!), which is so immensely helpful in keeping this series supported and afloat. Thank you! I am so happy you’re enjoying this series and its characters as much as I do. I apologize in advance for the things I’ll be putting them through in Air. 😛

On a different note, for those fantasy readers of mine who also like gritty dystopian fiction, The Resistance (The New World Book 1) will be on sale for just $0.99 (Amazon U.S. and U.K.) from Thursday, February 15 to Wednesday, February 21. Much like the Six Elements series, the New World series is a story revolving around war, only it is set in a politically corrupt and oppressive America in 2104. In a sense, The Six Elements only exists because I found my true calling for writing war and bloodshed in the New World. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart, but if it sounds like something you’d like, you can check it out here. The New World series was completed last year, so if you like it there’s no waiting until reading through to the end. 🙂

Don’t forget to follow the blog for updates or sign up for my release mailing list here. I do not spam my readers. I wouldn’t have the time to even if I wanted to; I’m always writing! I haven’t even gotten a chance to play my remastered copy of Shadow of the Colossus yet since I’ve been working so hard. 😉

Stay tuned!

Brand New Covers for the Entire New World Series!

Readers–

Exciting news! Not only is Water (The Six Elements Book 3) coming out this Sunday, December 10, but I have just finished revamping the entire New World series! The bloody dystopian series was completed earlier this year, but the first book of the series has been out since 2012, so I thought it was a great time to give them an update. All Kindle covers should be updating today, and the paperbacks should be completed within a few weeks (the process takes a bit longer). As I have mentioned before, all books have been updated with their content as well (new fonts for the paperback, a new chapter for The Betrayal).

Thank you to the magnificent cover design artist Matt Medlock for creating these awesome designs. Since he is a fan of the series, I knew he would be perfect for the job.

If you are new to my work from The Six Elements series, The New World is a completed series with themes of government oppression, humanity’s bloody quest for freedom, sacrifices for the greater good, intrusive technology, and the traumas of war and how it affects the human psyche. It’s extremely brutal, sad, and action-packed. I read 1984 by George Orwell as a little girl, and I actually didn’t like the book other than its ending. I felt it didn’t go far enough. Authoritarian regimes just don’t convince me unless they are full of violence and paranoia (and 1984 was quite tame in this respect to me). Much like The Six Elements series, literally no character is safe (if you have finished The New World series you know this), no character is without flaw, happy endings are certainly not guaranteed, and it is full of visceral gore and violence. If this sounds up your alley, check out the The New World Series Details page on my website, or the Amazon store page here.

Now, here are the rest of the covers for the series below and in order. Don’t forget to follow my blog for updates, follow/rate your favorite books on GoodReads, and sign up for my release newsletter to be the first to be updated on Air (The Six Elements Book 4).

Happy reading!

Earth: The Six Elements Book Two Released!

Happy Saturday!

I am super excited to announce that Earth (The Six Elements Book 2) has been released! Continue to follow Kai Sera and her companions as she furthers her quest for power and gains allies for her rebellion against the corruption of her home country. Earth kicks the stakes up into high gear with more unique characters, bloody battles, desert beasts the size of cities, ancient secrets, and large-scale sword and sorcery strategic warfare!

Earth can be bought here on Kindle for $4.99, and here in paperback for $15.99. The book is 124,000 words and 446 pages. As always, both versions of the book released with a glossary and all corresponding maps, and you can also find those and more here on my blog!

In Kai Sera’s rage after the brutal execution of a loved one, she has decimated one of the most prized cities in Chairel in a show of magical prowess, and now the country seeks her head. Kai and her companions flee to the unfamiliar land of Nahara, where she must convince its leaders to ally with her in a rising rebellion against her former home.

Nahara is a strange and dangerous land full of giant beasts, and it has a culture that values the bloodshed of gladiators in its coliseum. If any country will join Kai in waging a war with political goals that include legalizing necromancy, it is Nahara. But convincing them may not be easy—for Kai must first prove her power against foes who have yet to be defeated, and when it comes time to battle with Chairel, her ideals will force her to oppose those she loves.

I am immensely proud of this book and have reread it myself multiple times throughout the editing process because I can’t get enough. I hope you love it as much as I do!

As always, be sure to follow me on GoodReads and sign up for my mailing list here to be informed of new releases (I won’t spam you!).

I have updated this website to include more information (timelines, maps, etc.) to coincide with the release of Earth, and I have added a fan art page as well! Check them out! In addition, I might have some exciting information coming up soon for those of you who love The New World series, so stay tuned for updates!

As a last update, Water (The Six Elements Book 3) is coming along famously, and currently sits at 53,000 words. I am super happy with it so far. Each book of this series has its own unique identity and environment that tends to coincide with the element of the book, which keeps things interesting both to write and read. I’ll let you ponder on what that might mean for each upcoming release. 😉

Thank you SO much for your continued support of Fire! You all are awesome. Follow the blog for updates on Water‘s progress. Happy reading, and have a happy Halloween!

The Insurrection is Complete!

Hello, readers!

I am crazy excited to announce that The New World series is growing with the fourth book, The Insurrection, now complete! It is now going through the editing and publishing process and should be ready for purchase in a few weeks. You can get updated on the release of the book by either following this blog (I always update on release day) or following my author page on Amazon here.

Just to throw some stats out there, The Insurrection is the longest book I’ve ever written to this date, at just under 90,000 words. It is about double the size of the first book in the series, The Resistance. There was so much to cover in this book that it was absolutely necessary. It is the fourth book out of five in The New World series, so upon finishing it I felt a sense of sadness, longing, and yes, even regret for what is to come for these characters I love so much.

When I first wrote The Resistance, it was the first book I’d published that wasn’t in the romance genre, but it was also the first book that truly got me noticed as an author. I had no intentions of making the book into a series until I had those who had read it begging me to continue the story of Melanie and Axel. I remember thinking about this for weeks, before finally being hit with the kind of creative strike only other artists can appreciate. It was then that I knew exactly how their story would end. I didn’t know yet about how the story would unfold between, or what other characters I would create that I would since grow to love (Billy Johns comes to mind, first and foremost, with his spotlight coming up in The Insurrection). However, as I said–I knew how it would end, and as sad as the idea of this ending made me, I could only hope to give these characters justice for their time spent in this world up until this inevitable ending.

Lastly, for those of you who own a Kindle, I am planning on releasing it at the same price as the other novels in the series, at $2.99, unless the book is so large that the fees involved in the digital publishing process would make this too cheap (KDP does not allow me to sell my books for a negative price, of course). I always sell my paperbacks for as cheap as I can, since the costs associated with physical publishing can keep people who would like to read the books away from the purchase (believe me, I understand). This is why The Acquisition is $10.05 on Amazon in comparison to The Resistance at $8.65 or The Betrayal at $8.25. The cost is directly related to the size of the book, and I sell my books as close to cost as I can. In saying that, however, I know that The Insurrection will be the most expensive book I’ve published by far. I am bound within the limitations of my publishing company, however, and ensure you that regardless, the price set is the lowest I can set it without having to pay the publisher myself so that you can read it.

Thank you all for your time and your support. I appreciate each review you leave on my books and each book you purchase. I have been writing books since I was six years old. It is all I have ever really wanted to do as a career. It’s not the money that keeps me writing; I would write regardless, and I simply love being able to spread my ideas and even love for my characters to others. Each time I actually succeed, it’s a dream come true. So thank you all a million times.

Gratefully,

Rosie Scott

Fall Sale!

Hello, readers!

Enjoying the first few cool breaths of fall? I sure am! I’m always happy when I can open the windows of the house and let the fresh air in (and keep the electric bill down!).

To celebrate the occasion, I’m having a sale! The Resistance and The Acquisition are both going on sale from 8:00 A.M. this Friday, September 18 to 12 A.M. on Friday, September 25 (EST). Both books will be 76% off, at just $0.99 each (or £0.99 on amazon.co.uk). Unfortunately, I was unable to set up the same sale for the second book in the series, The Betrayal, though I did lower the price of the book overall to $2.99 to try to compensate.

As a quick update, the fourth book of the New World series is still coming along. It’s by far my biggest project yet, and I’m having to make a lot of creative decisions that I didn’t quite foresee. A multitude of personal health issues this summer and a loss in my family recently has ensured that I have my distractions, though nothing can keep me from my passions for very long, no matter how hard it may try. 😉

Thank you all for your support, your reviews, your interest, and your time. I can only hope that my future books will live up to and even surpass your expectations.

Happy reading!

Rosie Scott

Happy Spring!

Hello, readers!

I hope you all are enjoying the new warm weather! I sure am. It seems like the winters are starting later in the year and lasting far too long…and this is coming from someone who loves winter more than most.

In any case, I wanted to say a quick thank you to those of my fans who have requested to have my books sent to their local libraries. There have been a few orders made from libraries for the paperback versions of both The Resistance and The Betrayal in the past month alone, and I am eternally grateful to those of you who support me enough to make it happen. While I do not make any profit off of these orders, it makes me happy to know my books are reaching more people in more places–while potentially introducing them to the ideas set forth in said novels. It is my greatest hope that these library goers enjoy the series that is The New World.

The fourth book in the series is still being worked on, and I am still hoping for a 2015 release. It is, thus far, the longest book I’ve ever written–and I’ve still got quite a bit to write. The past year and a half has plagued me with difficulties of both medical and financial natures, but while this has taken away much of my time to write, it has not taken away my zest for writing or my love of the series. I dedicate time to writing as often as I can, whether life’s hurdles like it or not. 😉

Lastly, a sale on the first book in the series, The Resistance, is coming up soon. The Kindle versions of the novel will be available for 51% off in the US ($1.99) and 37% off in the UK (£1.99) from Tuesday, March 24 through Tuesday, March 31, which is not-so-coincidentally the day my husband and I will celebrate ten years together. So it’s a bit of an anniversary sale. 🙂

Thank you all for reading, and thank you all for your support. As always, you can subscribe to this blog to receive updates on book releases, sales, and much more!

Until next time,

Rosie Scott
